Moltkeplatz High School – Together to Achieve More.

In trusting and appreciative collaboration, our school community lays the foundation for generations to come so that young people, regardless of their background or social standing, can grow into resilient and self-reliant individuals. The desire to shape our society and our own lives requires independent individuals with a wide range of professional and social skills. We train them, we feel committed to this tradition.

Together we develop and promote comprehensive education, putting the achievement of professional competence at the center of our actions.

To this end, we understand the guiding principle of elementary school and performance awareness as the foundation of our work, develop personal responsibility for learning and skill acquisition, seek self-reflection, maturity and the ability to take criticism, and encourage self-organization.

Together we develop and promote social responsibility, seeing social competence as the foundation of our school activities.

To this end, we live the values of respect, esteem and tolerance, develop honest and trusting relationships with one another, understand willingness to help and solidarity as the building blocks of good coexistence, and are committed to nonviolence and exemplary action.

Together we shape and foster personal development by providing and supporting the development of individual learning biographies.

To do this, we address strengths and weaknesses in ways that enhance performance, and open pathways to self-development and personal responsibility.

2. The school of Empress Augusta.

Georgsplatz 10, 50676 Cologne

The gymnasium is designed for a wide range of possible careers and fosters the necessary key qualities (teamwork, social skills, work organization and value orientation). Pupils are prepared here for professional life and at the same time given the opportunity to participate in the social, cultural, economic and political life of society. To be able to better coordinate our training and guidance activities (including with external partners), ASD participates in the state initiative.

No degree without a connection – the transition from school to work in North Rhine-Westphalia(“KAoA”).

The overall goal of Kaiserin-Augusta-School is to enable our students to make independent and responsible decisions related to their transition to university or employment.

Against this background, we are currently developing a study and career orientation at KAS using the following key steps:

Secondary school education

1. Phase: Recognize potential and use it as the basis for planning an individual learning process.

In collaboration with an extracurricular provider, our students learn their strengths in different areas; In addition to checking practical skills, theoretical and reflective skills are also recorded. Students receive a detailed assessment together with expert advice from our collaboration partner. The implementation of this so-called potential analysis is legally linked to Year 8.

Stage 1: Introduction to Professional Fields – Professional Field Studies (BFE1-3)

In preparing for high school internships, our students should use their findings from a potential analysis for an initial practical career orientation. To do this, they must explore at least three career fields in after-school sites as examples. Beginning in 7th grade, KAS supports students in exploring career fields, such as Boys & Girls Day. It is mandatory at KAS to participate in Girls and Boys Day in grades 8 and 9 (BFE 1+3) and to participate in Tracking Day in grade 9 (BFE 2).

A form of commitment to explore professional fields

Secondary education

1. Phase: acquaintance and testing of practical working situations

Through a three-week internship (in Year 10), young people learn how to interact directly with operational workflows and structures, how to engage and work together.

Stage 1: Specify your academic and career choices, plan transitions

In the gymnasium, our students receive support from our cooperation partners, e.g. the Employment Agency, in specifying their academic and career choices. For example, our career counselor offers a counseling hour once a month for individual counseling of students at the school.

In addition, our counseling day includes one-on-one counseling for our students to ensure academic and career sustainability.

Additional measures:

  • Regular student advising (see advising concept)
  • Accompanying portfolio tool from grade 8

School curriculum of the New Gymnasium in Bochum

New Gymnasium Bochum (NGB) is a young school that emerged from the merger of two high schools in 2010. The five-year classes are housed in a modern new building, which is well equipped in all areas. The result of the merger of the two schools and the consistent further development of the respective profiles is a school program whose European orientation is unique in North Rhine-Westphalia in this form.

As a European school, we are distinguished not only by our wide range of languages (English, Latin, Spanish from 6th grade, French, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Chinese), but also by our own European courses in high school, as well as international meetings and events. At the beginning of their high school career, our students can choose one of three areas of study (science plus, bilingual English and Latin plus). In addition, all students, beginning in 5th grade, have the opportunity to participate in string classes. In all branches of education, they receive an advanced general education that leaves many opportunities for schooling. In their future school careers, our 6th, 8th, Music, Theatre, Arts and Sports students play an important role in school life at all grade levels and offer students an important balance in their lessons. Students are at the center of our school life. They can develop their personalities in an appreciative and friendly atmosphere based on mutual respect and tolerance. The following guidelines have been created on this basis.

We are building on our strengths

Through the various branches of education, we support and promote the individual interests and strengths of our students from the very beginning. Together with them we pass through everyday school life and discover with them their talents. Through numerous projects and working groups, we enable them to further develop their interests. Whether it is in the school choir, in the orchestra, in the theater group or in the European Youth Parliament – there is something for everyone! Through competitions in many areas, we give students the opportunity to express themselves outside of school.

We live in diversity

The daily interaction of many people with different talents, opinions, lifestyles, and backgrounds brings great enrichment both to each person and to our school community. It also gives us the opportunity to encourage openness to new things and tolerance toward others, and to promote respect for others. We are particularly encouraged by Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, whose wording ribbons our school building’s façade: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason. and conscience and should support one another in a spirit consistent with brotherhood.

The NGB creates framework conditions (e.g., through gender-sensitive teaching) that allow young people to develop all of their abilities and interests, regardless of their gender.

We work together

All members of our school community have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and developing our school: by participating in participation committees, projects, school events, the support association, or the student café. We want to foster a collaborative and vibrant school life and promote successful learning in a stimulating atmosphere. Good contacts, trusting and constructive cooperation between students, teachers and parents are especially important to us. Solid communication structures form the basis for this.

We are getting to know Europe

A united and cosmopolitan Europe, characterized by trusting cooperation, is essential for the peaceful and successful future of young people who grew up in the Ruhr area. Language learning is an important basis for understanding Europe and actively working on its future. With language certificates and bilingual subject instruction (CLIL) we offer opportunities far beyond the scope of conventional language instruction. Central and irreplaceable are personal European experiences and encounters. The school community is convinced of their value and supports European projects in the classroom or with European partners. Such experiences are institutionalized for bilingual classes from grade 7 to study in England; in higher level European courses, of which two exchanges with partner schools are an integral part, contacts with our partner schools are intensified and viewed from different perspectives. Students can develop their European identity in parliamentary simulations, working groups and competitions.

We’re pushing the boundaries

In addition to imparting knowledge in the classroom, our school also includes an extensive travel program that reinforces our European profile and has been developed by students, teachers and parents. All of our students can get to know their neighboring European countries better by visiting partner schools. We encourage them to apply for internships abroad. In addition to geographical boundaries, we also want to help our students successfully cross personal boundaries. We support them in planning their goals and motivate them to broaden their horizons. Through their successes, our students learn the value of overcoming inner limitations.

We encourage independence

Because our knowledge is constantly expanding through new discoveries, we are encouraged to learn throughout our lives. For this reason, we want to give our students the tools to work independently in addition to imparting knowledge. We use our students’ curiosity to consider topics in an unbiased manner and allow this to manifest itself in projects and lessons. For us, promoting independence also means giving our students time for professional and social internships and giving them opportunities to stay in other countries. You can apply what you’ve learned and continue to learn how to find your way in other areas of life and new cultures.

We form general

By general education we mean the development of the individual through the content of education. Committed to the idea of education, we put people at the center of our work together. Our primary concern is that our students learn to form their own judgment in order to find answers to the challenges of an ever-changing society. This means not simply accumulating knowledge and specializing too early, but shaping minds on fundamental and exemplary content, regardless of their chosen focus. Our lessons are science-based and focus on the personal maturity and learning capacity of our students.

We take responsibility for

We support students in taking responsibility for themselves and others. Whether on the Student Council (SV), in school health services, or with conflict pilots, our students are involved in the planning and execution of SV projects, concerts, performances, and campaigns. Student responsibility to each other is also important to us. For example, through class sponsorship, the older students introduce the younger students to everyday school life and are always there for them. Social internships allow students to think outside the box and take an active role in social projects. But as a school, we also see our responsibilities to the environment and our new building. Through various socials. We take responsibility for cultural and environmental projects and fundraising. We take our commitment to each other very seriously. We support each other in our interests outside of the classroom.

We love culture

Comprehensive and general personal education is impossible without an intensive cultural and musical education that focuses on one’s own actions and creativity. Commitment in this area is supported by the school community. Creative talent and interest in culture can be developed and nurtured in several ways: through small assignments in the classroom and large-scale performances; by supervision and independently; in school and through participation in community cultural life. Our school has suitable offerings of working groups, musical ensembles, and theater ensembles of various kinds, in which the entire school community participates in the performance.

We look forward to the efforts of

To succeed in life requires a certain level of willingness to act and a tolerance for disappointment. This includes, among other things, the experience that achievement in learning is not achieved effortlessly, but through continuous and concentrated individual and group work. Prerequisites for successful action include individual, specific, and realistic goals, adherence to mutually agreed upon rules such as respect for one another, reliability and conscientious completion of homework, and above all, the conviction that you can get what you want despite occasional setbacks and dry spells. spells can also achieve.

We shape the future

We pay particular attention to career and study orientation as well as degree and transition provision. One of the main goals of our school is to accompany young people on their way to education, training or employment and to help them in many different ways, together with their parents and external partners. The starting point is to guarantee a modern general education that provides a sound basis for studies and work, for further education and for life-long learning. That is why we prepare students for professional life in advance and according to their talents, and we count on the involvement of businesses and parents (as experts in their profession). Partnerships between schools and companies are used to the benefit of the students. elements such as internships, professional discussions, projects within the framework of the school-business network (KSW) and the network of schools of the future make an important contribution to this. Under the keyword “shaping transitions”, we work intensively with elementary school, vocational colleges and the University of Bochum (e.g. in the area of a student university for particularly capable students).

We question ourselves

It is important for us to be able to think critically and take a stand in the world. That is why we want to be able to account for our attitudes and our actions at all times. To this end we engage in questions of meaning and value and are open to the positions of others in lively discussions. Our goal is the cooperative responsible action of self-determined individuals in our society.

Our school is located in Heidelberg-Neuenheim, in the immediate vicinity of Neuenheimer Feld. We are a general secondary school and offer a bilingual, modern language and academic profile.

Since 2009 we have been a full-time open school. This means that our students have the opportunity, in addition to regular classes, to take advantage of offerings from our various work groups and take advantage of supervision depending on their individual interests. A specially designed online reservation system makes selection and registration easy.

While strong subject matter instruction is the foundation of schooling, school is about much more than just imparting knowledge! It is our need to offer young people the best possible conditions for holistic personal development. The foundation for this is an inherently value-based interaction in the daily interactions of school life. For this reason, together with students, parents and teachers, we have developed our school code, which is mandatory for all those involved in school life. In addition, the promotion of our students’ personal skills also includes interdisciplinary work with social and methodological programs. Numerous activities in the areas of music, theater, art and sports or MINT, as well as international exchanges and various extracurricular projects provide opportunities for discovering and developing personal potential.

Volker Nurk, Director

Everyone involved in school life treats each other with respect and shows consideration for each other. Communication is friendly and polite. We listen to each other and respect each other’s opinions. We do not accept violence in any form. We face the conflicts which arise and we are ready to meet each other halfway. Criticism is expressed objectively and constructively; no one can insult the other. Criticism always seeks fair solutions. Actual criticism does not have negative consequences. Commitment and achievements of others are recognized unconditionally. We see ourselves as a team and support each other in our work together. Agreements are respected by all.

Specific principles

Student Principles

We, the students, are the most important part of the school community. Therefore, the direction in which the school climate will evolve depends on us first and foremost. How we want to deal with conflicts: We strongly reject violence among ourselves. We avoid fist fights, intervene when necessary, and try to mediate. We resolve disagreements objectively. How we want to learn: The goal of all of us is to enable others to follow lessons in the best way possible. We also enable teachers to organize lessons according to plan. How we want to support each other: We remain honest in our behavior toward others. We support each other as best we can. No one can only give, no one can only take. How we want to engage everyone: The class community is open to everyone. It does not exclude anyone. Her goal is to integrate every student. It is not only the task of the class representatives, but above all the task of each individual person.

Teachers’ Principles

As teachers, we see a positive teaching and learning climate as a basic requirement of our work, which we actively advocate. We are aware of the constant role model effect and responsibility to the students entrusted to us. We see our primary goal as providing competent instruction on a daily basis. We perceive problems in school life and address them as well. It is important for us to look for appropriate help and possible solutions. We make our actions and decisions clear and binding for all. In its unity, the college consistently enforces these principles.

Language Consistency in Bunsen Gymnasium

The foreign languages English, French and Latin are offered in the Bunsen-Gymnasium. All students learn English from the 5th grade, with English usually being the first foreign language, in the bilingual train it is French (with English as the second foreign language). As a second foreign language we offer Latin (parallel to English from the 5th grade) or French (from the 6th grade) in other trains.

From the 8th grade it is possible to study another foreign language as part of the choice of profile (see below).

Depending on your 5th grade choice, this could be French or Latin as a third foreign language.

A special feature of the bilingual train is that students study French intensively in addition to English in order to get closer to bilingualism. At the end of the 10th grade they can decide if they want to take the French Baccalaureate in addition to the German Abitur.

Profiles in Bunsen High School

From the 8th grade onwards, all students are added a so-called major, which at our school is chosen from Latin, French, NwT or IMP and becomes another major. Depending on their choice, our students take a language or science profile or an IT profile.

Urspring is a special school.

Self-education and personal responsibility are part of human nature, but sometimes people are not strong enough to live up to that nature.

in honor of Professor Hans Thirsch

THE PHILOSOPHY OF OUR PRIVATE SCHOOL:

develop life skills.

According to the goals of its founders Dr. Bernhard Hell and Fritz Ehrliche, the private Urspring School follows the tradition of German public schools and pedagogical reform. It undertakes to realize its educational mission as the unity of life, learning, and teaching in common life and to advance special knowledge, humanity, and creativity in equal measure.

As a private school in Baden-Württemberg, we see ourselves as a service, support and mentor. Our task is to support children and young people in the development of their individual life skills. By this we mean the totality of their cognitive, emotional, methodical and social potential, which girls and young people develop between the ages of 8 and 20 to be able to shape their present and future lives in a meaningful and active way. We also provide this service for the benefit of parents.

We also consider ourselves a Protestant school community where girls and boys of all faiths are welcome. In this sense, Protestant religious instruction, which is mandatory for all students in our private school, is also not “church instruction. We see religion as an element of our culture.

Our private school is located in the quiet and peaceful setting of the town of Schelklingen in Baden-Württemberg, close to the border with Bavaria. The former monastery of Urspring is now a place where people live and learn together.

Student Structure

Girls and boys at Urspring come from many different regions and countries for many different reasons. We are convinced that this colorful diversity, because it is part of life, promotes learning together. This defines one of our characteristics: We are a boarding school for children and young people who enjoy living here.

No one lives in Urspring against their will. That’s why we think it’s crucial that not only local parents get an idea of Urspring, but especially children and young people who spend a large part of their lives here.

About 250 students between the ages of 8 and 20 live and study at Urspring School in classes of 16 children and teenagers each. Since September 2015 we have had our own language institute for acquiring German language and cultural skills .
